Rowan Forbes is a studio trained artist. Life and figure drawing were taught as an essential component of art to be able to quickly capture the beauty and complexity of the human form in all situations.

When living on Waiheke Island, Jan Nigro a prominent NZ Figure artist was a strong influence at workshops and introduced him to the freedom of painting with oilsticks. Now he enjoys exploring the inter-connectivity and intimacy of human forms and to capture them as part of a visual choreography in a simplified and expressionistic manner with broad sweeps of line and form.
